    😃 - A GNU/Linux with Unity  (more…)

Ubuntu and Unity still harmonize very well. I have spoiled my production system with a current LTS version of Ubuntu after the 2016 version has been in service for almost seven years without any complaints. As I'm used to it, I continue to install Unity7 with Yaru. Additionally I replaced the icons in the dock with my own creations.

🇩🇪 - Partial Solar Eclipse in Brandenburg, Germany  (more…)

On October 25th 2022, the penumbra of the moon covered Germany at noon and a partial solar eclipse occured. At maximum the sun was only moderately covered (about 30%).

When the eclipse began, the sun has been veiled by a thin cloud cover, later dense cloud fields repeatedly passed through the field of view, which partially obscured the sun for several minutes. The difficult weather conditions required constant adjustments to exposure times and lead to several interruptions in the resulting animation.

🇩🇪 - Beginning Lunar Eclipse in Brandenburg, Germany  (more…)

In central Europe only the beginning partial phase of this total lunar eclipse was visible before the almost completely clear sky turned blue and the moon set in the early morning. The nightingales were singing all the time.

This event is an almost identical repetition of another lunar eclipse that I observed on May 16th, 2003 - exactly 19 years earlier.
